Jim Pickerell came up with a new version of his website Selling Stock; the old one is still online. Unfortunately there is still no way for readers to respond to his news except to the author Jim Pickerell himself. Although this is still the best information source for the picture business, it is - like elsewhere - the oldiegoldie form of communication: unidirectional, no forum, no blogging possibilities, no unguarded discussions, no way of adding informations to news, no way to "interact" at all. To our knowledge there is no other business field with less transparency than the picture business. Strange to say that only news sites for professional photographers (these are the lonely guys from the other side of the table) like editorialphotographers and even stockphoto are maintaining emailgroups.
Talked to an US-CEO and he frankly declared: "If we were to set up an enterprise blog, we would have to set up at least two blogs, one for internal communications and the other one for the official PR-Blabla. Definitely, a somehow unguarded special interest blog with experts in our business field and with, lets say, some unpredictable results would be a nightmare for my Marketing VP and a thin red line I don´t like to cross."
Weblogs in this playground are the weapons of the guerilla. Happy Easter!
