This tremendous story by Alan Reiter takes into account the editorial use of the photos. We have a similar story of a pro in a mid-sized stock photo production where the AD had to stay in the hotel because of flu.

This afternoon I was interviewed at the studios of the Voice of America (VOA) in Washington, D.C. about -- surprise! -- camera phones.
...
However, I did pick up an interesting tidbit about camera phones from a VOA employee. His wife is a professional photographer and uses a camera phone to transmit photos to her editor. The photos aren't for publication but for the editor to approve the type of photos, such as shooting a building from a specific angle.
...
The camera phone photos sent to the editor provide assurance to the photographer that she's on the "right track" in how she's approaching a photo session. It's one more business application that I'm sure the originators of camera phones didn't think about.
