Michelle McNally Named Director of Photography for The New York Times

"Our long search for someone who can lead our photojournalism to its rightful place is over," New York Times executive Editor Bill Keller wrote to the newspaper's staff in an April 28 email announcing that Michele McNally will become the Times' new director of photography in June (NPPA).

"McNally's title as director of photography is an upgrade in authority--photo chiefs at the Times have previously held the title of picture editor." (PDNonline)

APAD - still fighting for the reunion of NPPA and POYi and "there should be one internationally recognized photojournalism competition based in America" - hopes that the "god awful NY Times freelance photographer's contract" finally might be changed (ASMP discussion site).
