As reported earlier, Fashion Mode is a new Yahoo emailgroup (see also "The Decline of Fashion Photography") that "reflects subjects concerning commercial photography, modeling issues, advertising" etc.. A reader recently came up with the topic "English definitions Fashion & High Fashion". Another one (Benjamin Kanarek) responded:
>The difference between pret a porter (ready to wear) and haute couture (high fashion) is quite specific. Ready to wear are sized i.e. 8, 10, 12 etc and high fashion are one of a kind pieces that are shown as the prototype at the shows and purchased by someone who has the means and is unique. I have shot more Haute Couture than i'd like to say. Everyone from Dior to Lagerfeld to Chanel and La Croix. A piece can run as high as in the millions of dollars if jewel encrusted.
Unfortunately Haute couture is dying a slow and painful death.
And just because Nicola Doering (she recently should held a presentation called "Mobile Blogging: Who, Where, Why?" at the BlogTalk 2.0 Conference) has asked very kindly in an email who is/are the guy/s behind this blog: first row, fourth guy. But like all paranoid people, a real Multiple Personality Disorder. And no, this blog is not "related to six apart ltd" other than using the software and the help of Brenna. So far, Best!
