- Today the Rocky Mountains News runs a long article on Thought Equity and the $300 million stock video footage market:
Denver-based Thought Equity is the world's largest stock video footage licensing and management company, with more than 165,000 clips on its Web site. The four- year-old company essentially serves as a middleman between ad agencies and media companies that want to incorporate stock footage into their own productions and the vast film libraries that own those rights. Stock footage is estimated to be a $300 million market, according to BBC Worldwide, and is poised to grow to $1 billion by 2010 as more clips make their way into Internet ads, cell-phone snippets and digital billboards.
Among Thought Equity's competitors are Getty Images and Bill Gates' Corbis, whose libraries are weighted more toward still photography than motion footage, and news organizations such as Associated Press and the BBC. [...]
The privately held company, whose investors include Vista Ventures, Jona Ventures and Access Venture Partners, doesn't disclose financial information other than to say its revenue grew by 500 percent in the first six months of the year.

- PicScout released today the Photographer Kerrick James Case Study:
Kerrick James, a member of the American Society of Media Photographers and the Stock Artist Alliance, is represented by Getty Images and one of the individual photographers using PicScout´s Image Tracker service.
During the last year, PicScout established a worldwide network of Legal Partners as part of its efforts to improve the photographer ability to settle cases and recover licensing fees.
James noted "'I was amazed to find out how easy can be the settlement process. Not only that all the information was provided by PicScout, but also I didn't have to personally pursue the case. I made a demand and got the payment within less than two months', described Kerrick Jame".
PicScout explains that "You can cover your yearly account fee with 1 detected misuse only".
