• Reiner Merkel, CEO of the dpa (German Press Agency) Picture Alliance, dies at 55:
  Merkel was the driving force behind the photo portal of the Picture Alliance with more than 5 million images from Picture Press, akg-images, OKAPIA, dpa-Bilderdienste, kpa photo archive and Bildagentur Huber.
