Does anyone remember a company called Jupiterimages, owned by Jupitermedia, and their conference calls in previous years? Does anyone remember the conference calls with Jonathan Klein of Getty Images in all those years?
All gone, good-bye and Farewell, My Lovely.
But maybe instead we´ll soon have some real Microstock Conference Calls. Why?
Following the departure of Adam Riggs in his function as President and CFO of Shutterstock, Thilo Semmelbauer became new President of the microstock agency, and now another hire on executive level could indicate that Shutterstock might go public anytime soon:
Tim Bixby, having worked for two public companies for a combined 18 years,
- as CFO (since June 1999) and as President (since March 2001) for LivePerson (YF/GF), and
- earlier as VP of Finance for Universal Music & Video Distribution,
was recently appointed as Shutterstock´s new CFO. He announced his departure from his former employer already in November 2010.
Betsy Reid, of course for her very own motives as former SAA director, thus not totally unbiased, recently stated towards iStockphoto, without naming them, "the party [for the contributors of iStockphoto] is over".
Well, apparently the party is not over at Shutterstock. So it seems that Jon Oringer´s "Shutterstock kept a low profile on purpose" in recent years was the right thing to do.
So far there are no SEC filings (anyone familiar with this procedure knows how long a full IPO procedure can last). I bet this will change.
