Picture_1_3 I´m off to the CEPIC congress in Malta for a few days to chair a session together with Klaus Plaumann on new trends in microstock, the consumer space and photo portals. We´ll have Lee Corkran, Eyal Gura, Bruce Livingstone and Oleg Tscheltzoff as panelists.

Thus - no updates here for a couple of days.

BAPLA Fair: A Happy Island

Black

Maybe it´s too late to talk about the BAPLA Fair, but I hope it´s not.

This event is a very special event. Being there you have the impression that the Brits have a blind faith in the future of photography.

The atmosphere among the participants was friendly and positive, you could feel the british humour and it helped a lot in these very difficult moments.

New York Photo Festival: Much Ado About Nothing

Black

Even though I´m in favour of anything which can help photography I don´t feel to say that the New York Photo Festival has been a big deal.

New York should have done something more important and lasting.

A city like New York with ten millions people living in that area and with millions of tourists coming from all parts of the world, should have offered something that every visitor would have remembered.

To start with, 4 days it´s a too short time. I would like to remember to the curators that the Perpignan Festival lasts 2 weeks.

To be honest from what I´ve read I daresay that the NYPF has been very little advertised and that the content seems not very attractive.

"We´re gonna take one last question"

They talk a lot to really no end, for which they are notorious!

Where to Go and What to See?

Despite some minor flaws -- it´s two months old and the storyboard is not fully up-to-date -- the best way to demonstrate the old dilemma as every year whether one should attend Perpignan or Amsterdam is this video produced by Casaleggio Associati: "The narrator even sounds a little like Dracula" (David Schonauer).

Pino Granata: CEPIC - Time for a Change

There´s no doubt that the CEPIC meeting 2007 has been a great success. The biggest up to now.

But I do think that something must be changed in order to distinguish the CEPIC conference from what it has been until now: a big fair that this time was very close to be a big carnival.

Meeting after a meeting until everybody was tired and pooped. At a certain point on Friday, I decided that I had enough to talk about royalty free, microstock and all these things.

CEPIC 2007 images

Zwez_boughn Those readers with a WIN machine complained that they were partly not able to watch the flash animation with images from the recent CEPIC meeting.

Thus I´ve put these images and a few others into this separate photo album: start here.

Image: Hans-Joerg Zwez, Mauritius Images, and Ellen Boughn, Dreamstime.

Mauritius had the best promotional gifts ever: cleaning tissues for eyeglasses.

Post CEPIC images from Prisma

For those many which had no time to do more useful things other than to stay all day in the CEPIC congress centre and had too many drinks later in the evening, Stefan Wittwer gathered some daylight impressions of Firenze.

© Images and Flash Animation thanks to Stefan Wittwer, Prisma photo agency AG, Zurich, Switzerland.
Tested with Adobe Flash Player 9.0.28 and Firefox/Safari latest versions.
In case you can´t see a goddam thing, get rid of your WIN machine and buy a Mac.
HTML code for embedding Flash/SWF. files into Typepad thanks to Jeroen Wijering.

CEPIC 2007: Sitting in the garden

_h100665

There is usually one week in the year when nobody reads or writes stock photo related news for nearly one week, and that´s the time shortly before, during and shortly after the annual CEPIC congress. Despite all the predictions that the stock photo business is "going down", each year more new companies and more new attendees visit the CEPIC congress.
