Bruce Livingstone resigns as CEO of iStockphoto and SVP Consumer of Getty Images

This is my last communication as CEO of iStockphoto and SVP Consumer at Getty Images. It's been a difficult decision, but it’s the right moment to move on. I need more time with my family, and time to figure out what I'm going to do next. Anybody who knows me, knows I'm a bit of a workaholic. So I'm finally going to make some time for myself and the people in my life.

Bruce Livingstone sat on one of my panels during the CEPIC congress 2008 in Malta where iStock also organized an iStockalypse event. It was a great experience for everyone in the audience to listen to him. Finally he now has the time to care more about his family. Sooner or later we will see him acting again, in another new venture.

Jupiterimages to be sold to Getty Images for $96 million

So where had Alan been?

In Spring 2007 it sounded like a $450 million deal (the New York Post story), now it comes down to $96 million which will "allow Jupitermedia to pay off all of its bank debt".

Getty Images´ Jamd Consumer Website is back online

Getty Images´Jamd consumer website went offline for quite some hours with the promise to return later "around 10:00 AM PST".

MySpace + Getty Images = MySpace Celebrity™ Images

At the time of writing, shares of Getty Images jumped +10.43% or +$2.55 to $27.00, apparently mainly because Barbara Coffey -- she was also quoted in this recent WSJ article "Getty Images Bolsters Its Web Presence" -- of Kaufman Brothers "boosted Getty´s rating to 'Hold' from 'Sell'", according to today´s Associated Press´ story "Getty Images Rises on Analyst Upgrade" on Forbes:

Getty Images continues to be a company in transition, adjusting from being the leading player in an oligopolistic market to being one of many players in a highly competitive market", Coffey wrote in a note to clients.

Getty Images noted recently -- besides ViewImages and JAM´D -- "we have other consumer initiatives to discuss" in this new year 2008.

As a matter of fact, MySpace announced today that "Getty Images will provide the latest celebrity photos on a daily basis" for MySpace´s new venture MySpace Celebrity™.

JAM´D and ViewImages by Getty Images

Back in August I had the opportunity to depict shortly ViewImages (Story) and "Getty Audio" (Story). Here´s Getty Images´ condensed statement on the sister venture JAM´D:

"JAM´D is Getty Images´ proof of concept consumer site trial using wholly-owned imagery, not a traditional product launch.

JAM´D is a consumer-oriented Web site created and driven by the realization that we have a huge amount of traffic to various Getty Images sites.

Most of these people are not looking to license but rather browse images.
