Old media in the stock photo industry.
New media in the stock photo industry.
Another day, and again another tiny little - how to say - trick?
As promized earlier, on every single day these apparent tricks would occur again, there will be a new notification, here and elsewhere.
Weeks ago, Milano-based Cubo Images emailed Will Carleton of London-based Photo Agency News the news that they have launched a new website, and only to him.
Being a master of the universe regarding the english language, they noted expressly that Will is allowed to add lines and to express the core message of their news in other words.
Which he did, on Dec. 06, 2006. In a way that his lines show little or even no similarity to the words of the news he initially received.
All of a sudden VISUELL published yesterday, Dec. 18, nearly two weeks later, on their news site according to Will Carleton exactly his special phrases and lines, pretending in front of their readers to be unique.
And in all likelihood these "news" will make their way into the print issue of VISUELL. And again, the result in the reader´s brain will be: "Wow, what a great bunch of time and work VISUELL has invested to break this story, I´m deeply impressed and moved to tears."
No link back to Photo Archive News, no credit. How often did this already happen in the past, to Photo Archive News or any other site out there?
Update: VISUELL has added a link to Will´s Photo Archive News, crediting the source. So they admit they were wrong. However, these question remain:
- Why do we have to fight for this?
- If you grab an image, you´ll get sued, and have at least to pay a fine.
- How often did this already happen in the past?
