Corbis and VIMA Technologies Sign Agreement to Conduct Joint End-User Testing of Active Learning Visual Search

" ...we consider this an important endorsement of our image search capabilities based on visual clues and VIMA's industry-unique active learning technology."

Santa Barbara, CA - April 6th, 2005. VIMA Technologies and Corbis, Inc. of Seattle today signed an agreement to work together to formally access VIMA’s MindReader™ active-learning visual search solution with Corbis’ stock photo customers.

"In the past, Corbis has been the most proactive supporter among the industry leaders in exploring how search refinement based on visual clues could improve their clients’ ability to find the right image for their needs. Even so, this is the first time Corbis has made a financial commitment to any technology and we consider this an important endorsement of our image search capabilities based on visual clues and VIMA's industry-unique active learning technology", emphasized David Telleen-Lawton, VIMA’s CEO. "For the first time, Corbis has seen a visual refinement tool that really works. Alternative solutions that use one-click, query-by-example have never really satisfied stock photo providers nor their users."

Corbis is one of the industry’s leaders in supplying visual solutions to advertisers, editors, publishers, filmmakers, and marketers for sourcing licensing, and locating images and footage. Their images are seen daily by millions of people around the world—in magazines, newspapers, and films, on television, and in thousands of advertisements. Often the solution starts with finding the right image to convey the right message. VIMA’s MindReader™ active learning search refinement software helps the image researcher locate their image faster and with fewer keystrokes.
