Newmarket, Auckland, NZ, Feb. 18, 2008. Success in the global keywording business has prompted New Zealand´s More Images to launch its Keedup brand as a separate company. Auckland-based More Images began in 1994 and quickly became a leading supplier of international imagery to the Kiwi market.
Frustrated with the standard of keywording he was seeing from suppliers, More Images´ founder, Mr Kevin Townsend, launched Keedup about three years ago. "We’ve obviously struck a chord with the image-selling community as today keywording easily eclipses our syndication sales - so much so that it is no longer appropriate for the two businesses to exist in the same company".
Whilst Keedup Ltd remains a private company, Mr Townsend says separating the businesses has allowed more appropriate financing arrangements to promote growth.
"Keywording is a labour-intensive activity, even if you have the best keywording software there is. According to our local statistics department we’re now in the top 4% of employers in New Zealand. Dealing with cash flow and other issues in such a business is a million miles away from the far less labour-intensive image selling business".
In the coming year Keedup Ltd is looking to consolidate its editorial/celebrity keywording business, further expand its stock keywording operations and introduce a range of new services.
"Stock in particular is taking off, with a large number of companies knocking at our door. With our relatively low wages, and high education standards we are delivering keywording at the standard of US and UK companies, but at a greatly reduced price".
"Kiwi ingenutiy in developing software and business processes is the other important ingredient. We´re looking to apply a number of lessons from the high-pressure editorial keywording business to develop new offerings for stock photo libraries".
