London, UK, Feb. 12, 2008. BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, today announced that it has appointed Matt Walker as the new editor for Loveearth.com. Walker brings a wealth of natural history editorial experience to the team having previously been News Editor for New Scientist magazine. He is also the author of the critically acclaimed book "Moths that drink elephants´tears, and other zoological curiosities". In the role, Walker will be responsible for leading Loveearth.com’s brand of compelling and accessible wildlife editorial across the site.
Loveearth.com, BBC Worldwide´s natural history website, is a celebration of the world and the animals within it. It brings natural history to life through incredible photography and films as well as fresh content from wildlife experts.
The site also gives a unique view into the life of some of the world´s rarest animals through its animal tracking programme. This lets viewers follow the migration of polar bears, turtles and whales using Google Earth maps and satellite technology.
Matt Walker commented: "The natural world and the state of our planet are at the forefront of the public´s mind at the moment and Loveearth.com is a leading natural history destination to help educate consumers. The amazing images and footage from the BBC’s film makers around the world are a unique asset for the site and form the heart of our editorial strategy. I’m excited to join such a dedicated team and look forward to using my experience to help enhance the site even further".
