moodboard unlimited: moodboard launches Image Industry´s first Pay-What-You-Want Scheme

Moodboard_unlimitedmoodboard unlimited: moodboard invites designers to ‘pay what you want’ for stock images

London, UK, Feb. 20, 2008. Designers, advertising creatives, web designers and editorial picture editors can now get top quality images to bring their creative work to life for ‘whatever they want to pay’ through innovative new UK-based online stock image library www.moodboard.com. Based in London, moodboard is the brain child of Mike Watson, founder of award winning royalty free agency Digital Vision, which was sold in 2005 to Getty Images for $165m.

www.moodboard.com was launched last year to offer advertising, marketing, media and publishing professionals an alternative way of shopping for stock image photography - in particular to challenge the more established US-based stock image providers in the market (including Getty Images) by delivering simple search, clear price pointing and optimum quality images.

Watson said: "The industry is ready for an alternative to Getty and the establishment; so whether you´re an end-user or photographer looking for ways of monetising photography, it´s got to be good news that there´s a cheaper, faster and more viable option. The team and I led change in the stock image industry with Digital Vision and we´re leading change again".

moodboard is the first image provider to allow the creative industry to pay what they think an image is worth - even if that is as little as a penny. Mike Watson added: "It may seem like a crazy idea, and the creative industry might think there’s a catch, but there’s not! Pay what you want!"

"Since our initial launch in July last year, we have further developed our collections, made it even simpler for designers to find what they’re looking for and introduced clear pricing brackets."

moodboard houses quality microstock, premium royalty free and rights ready images on one website.

moodboard unlimited is a range of images that users price themselves; moodboard micro is a quality microstock collection that starts at just £8; moodboard premium offers royalty free images for unlimited usage for a one off fee; and moodboard+ is at the top end of the exclusivity scale, with the production and creative values of rights-managed photography but with the flexibility of royalty free pricing.

Watson added: "moodboard has been created in direct response to what the design industry wants. As the newest and fastest growing player on the market, our usability is second to none and our photo collections offer new and exciting contemporary images".

"As part of our commitment to be the easiest and quickest to use site, we also offer a comprehensive free research service. To ensure we are providing the creative industry with the very latest talent from the photography circuit, in addition to our team of experienced professional photographers, moodboard encourages semi-pro photographers to submit work for consideration. Only the very best shots get to join our unique collection".

Comments

Moodboard may wel be a great deal for Creative Agencies but I think most photographers will pass on the underwhelming opportunity.
What proportion of 1 cent would be appropriate to pay them ?
Photographers deserve better than deals like this
