North Hollywood, CA, Mar. 03, 2008. BBC Motion Gallery, a division of BBC Worldwide, announced today the further expansion of its critically acclaimed high definition footage archive with four new HD collections.  These collections, which include stunning aerial and aviation footage along with footage from the Galapagos Islands, represent many hundreds of high definition shots, available for the first time as part of the licensable collection of HD footage via www.bbcmotiongallery.com.

High definition footage from Galapagos, the renowned three-part documentary series produced by BBC Natural History and National Geographic, is now also available, for the first time, for licensing from BBC Motion Gallery.

Depicting the history, landscape and wildlife of the islands in the Pacific Ocean that Charles Darwin travelled in the 1800s when he developed his theory of evolution, the footage includes high definition imagery and aerial footage of volcanoes, lava, sky and sea surrounding the islands, as well as a multitude of animals, including penguins, fur seals, flamingos, tropical fish, giant tortoises and sea turtles in some of their last habitats on earth.

Spectacular HD aviation footage from independent filmmaking pioneer Brian J. Terwilliger, producer and director of the documentary One Six Right: The Romance of Flying, is now available to BBC Motion Gallery customers, including shots of restored vintage planes in flight above the famed Van Nuys Airport. As with the tens of thousands of BBC Motion Gallery clips already accessible on its web site, each image includes a rich body of metadata, making it extremely easy for users to locate the specific shot they need.

Outstanding clips from the owner of Omniscience High Definition 9Video, Gary Kauffman, have been made part of the BBC Motion Gallery offerings. Epic landscapes, dramatic scenery and aerial footage of animals are presented with all the vibrant color and detail of HD.  Kauffman specializes in obtaining footage of hard-to-reach Rocky Mountain locales with his own helicopter and crew of experienced pilots and cinematographers.

Breathtaking HD footage from award-winning director, producer and cinematographer Louis Schwartzberg has also been made part of the high definition collection of licensable footage available from BBC Motion Gallery.  The collection encompasses locations, aerials, lifestyle, time-lapse and Americana footage.

"These new collections consolidate BBC Motion Gallery’s position as the provider of the largest collection of HD content in the world. The new collections add yet more variety to the extensive HD collection already assembled from the BBC, NHK (Japan) and CCTV (China) archives", said Jan Ross, Senior Vice President, BBC Motion Gallery.  "High definition footage is in strong demand within the advertising, corporate, film and broadcast sectors.  We´re extremely pleased to be able to provide our customers with these expanded offerings, and to add to our HD collection with such incredible new work".
