David Young and Tom Bannon will lead the sales office

Reston, VA, June 10, 2008. Newscom, a global source of news and information, today announces a key addition to its leadership team. David Young comes onboard as Newscom’s Vice President of Sales. Tom Bannon, who has held the position for the past 18 months, has been named Vice President for Business Development.

“This strategic evolution in our leadership team will make our sales force stronger and more effective,” said Newscom Managing Director Bill Creighton. “By utilizing the skills and talents of both Tom and David in their new roles, we will reach new markets and develop relationships with new partners.”

Before joining Newscom, Young was manager of business development at Platts, a McGraw Hill Company providing information and pricing services to the global energy markets. Young holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing and finance from the University of Puget Sound in Seattle, Washington.

As Vice President of Sales, Young’s key responsibilities will be the ongoing development of Newscom’s key account strategy and expansion of sales teams. Already, the process of realigning and growing the sales team has begun with the addition of Christina Popes and Laure Lion as Senior Account Executives.

Lion was previously a market development executive and a sales manager for Getty Images, as well as a sales manager at Corbis.

Before joining the Newscom sales team, Popes was a senior account executive for Polaris Images. Popes also worked as an account executive and senior account executive at Corbis Images.

“I am excited for the opportunity to lead the Newscom sales team,” Young said. “I look forward to working with Bill Creighton and the rest of the team in developing goals and strategies that will strengthen our position in the marketplace.”

As Vice President for Business Development, Bannon is charged with securing and closing large-scale agreements as well as identifying strategic partners in new and emerging markets for visual, video and text content.

“I will work to identify customers who are seeking a greater return on their Internet advertising strategies,” Bannon said. “Newscom is poised to offer premier content as leverage for their investment.”

Before joining the Newscom team in January 2007, Bannon was director of sales for national accounts at Getty Images. He also has served as senior vice president for business development at Octopus Media. Bannon graduated from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and minors in English and marketing.

“The expansion of Newscom’s senior management team demonstrates our dedication to ongoing growth and development,” Creighton said. “Newscom clients will notice a more cohesive sales team with a wider reach into all corners of the customer spectrum.”
