Portland, Maine, Feb. 09, 2009. Responding to the ever-growing demand for video, motion picture and interactive content for the online world, Aurora Photos, a noted stock photo agency headquartered in Portland, ME, announces the launch of Aurora Novus. The new West coast-based company addresses the needs of individuals and businesses seeking to elevate storytelling to the next level via the web, television and other digital platforms.
Aurora Novus, located in Los Angeles, CA, will oversee the development of all new media – encompassing motion picture and interactive content – for current and potential clients seeking to brand an online identity through visual storytelling. The expansion signifies the first time any stock photo agency offers in-house, multimedia production.
The multimedia format presents still photography and video, accompanied by narratives and music, as short, powerful films, ranging from traditional documentary-style to experimental and edgy productions. Additionally, the company will use this medium to continue showcasing its own stable of well-known, award-winning photographers.
The creation of Novus is a partnership with Ian Shive, who will join Jose Azel, president of Aurora Photos, and Corey Rich, vice president of Aurora, in leading the company. Shive, a former motion picture industry publicist with a decade of experience working on such films as the Spider-Man franchise, Pursuit of Happyness and over 60 other major movies, will oversee the growth and creation of the company’s innovative West coast-based projects. Shive, who also is an established, professional outdoor photographer, has been represented by Aurora Photos since 2006.
Distinguishing all Aurora Novus productions, will be the “visual integrity” that has become the hallmark of the parent company.
Says Azel, “Embracing the current shift towards online storytelling seems clear. Providing high-quality content for this community is a natural linear extension of what we already do as a top-tier visual provider.”
The partners believe that Aurora Photos’ reputation as exceptional image-makers and visual storytellers, combined with a state-of-the-art video production office, positions the company at the forefront of multimedia content creation for the web and for breaking new ground in this dynamic part of the industry as it continues to evolve. Historically, Aurora Photos produced Internet and other new media projects for clients such as Time Magazine, Apple Computers, Inc. and MSNBC. Today Aurora Novus formally advances these efforts.
