In the summer of 2007, OJO Images and Getty Images gave their support to the "Compassionate Eye Foundation", a non-profit organisation established and run by a group of Canadian photographers. Royalties from the Foundation´s collection of images (represented by Getty Images) help provide educational opportunities, basic health services and economic development in poverty stricken areas of Guatemala and now also Africa.
OJO Images Chairman Chris Ryan says: "My daughter is 9 years old - healthy, happy and care free - and when I saw some of the images of very, very poor families in GuatemaIa, I couldn´t even begin to imagine how painful life was for these small children ... we at OJO immediately wanted to try to help them."
