Below is Charles Mauzy´s full response (unedited) which was also sent to DRR members:
"DRR is in the process of re-structuring our company and the team along with all of our employees want to make sure we keep key partners/associations/press informed of the changes taking place.
Over the last three years Digital Railroad’s founding team along with our current staff have invested our considerable time and talents to create the most robust and secure online distribution platform for the professional photographer community. With the tremendous support from our photographer and agency members, we are proud to have achieved so much: today Digital Railroad has been entrusted to manage over 8,000,000 images on behalf of our members enabling them to manage, market and sell their work worldwide. We take tremendous pride in the accomplishment, and as impressive as the results above are, we have only just begun to complete the mission we set out to accomplish.
In 2007 our team released two critically important additions to our platform: Digital Railroad Marketplace and Research Network. Again, support among our members has been tremendous. After launching Marketplace with 500,000 images, in less than 8 months our members added over 2,000,000 fresh images creating one of the largest buyer resources for stock images available in our industry. In September of 2007 we launched Research Network. To date over 2000 member submissions have been made directly to buyers and new buyer requests are coming to our members every day. Again, as impressive as these results are, they are just the beginning.
In 2008 our goal is to build on this success and fulfill our mission to drive significantly greater revenue to our members through image licensing in Marketplace. In order to achieve this objective, we are focusing 100% of our resources to attracting top creative professionals—both buyers and photographers—to Digital Railroad and growing sales in Marketplace. With the support of our investors, founders, board of directors and most importantly our employees, we are necessarily reducing costs not directly related to growth of Marketplace including a reduction in force.
The friends and colleagues that we say farewell to today have laid the foundation for our mutual success now and in the future. We wish them nothing but success and are incredibly grateful for their tremendous contribution to our company.”
“While change is always difficult we are confident that the change we make today will allow us to have long term success. Our investors have tremendous confidence in our leadership team, our strategy and have renewed their financial support with additional investments in capital this month.
I am proud of the team that remains at Digital Railroad. Our key leadership team including our newly appointed CEO, Charles Mauzy, Maris Berzins, Mark Ippolito, Andy Parsons and Tom Tinervin all remain with Digital Railroad and have collaborated closely on setting our strategy for 2008 and beyond. Our product development team, web developers, engineers, designers, writers and our Marketplace sales and support team- with representatives in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle and London- all remain committed to our success.
Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions on how we can accelerate our success. And thank you for your continued membership in Digital Railroad."
